Carpet Care and Cleaning

Carpets, so necessary for warmth and comfort in apartments, create many problems in the form of dust and dirt accumulating in them. If they are not properly and promptly looked after, they can affect your health, for example, cause allergies. Therefore, it is necessary to take care of carpets correctly.

Below we will consider the rules and methods of self-care for carpets.

1. The "knocking out" of the carpet has proven itself well. The carpet is hung on the crossbar and knocked out from both sides with a special knockout. Dust and debris are removed from the surface of the carpet by impacts, the fibers become more fluffy. After knocking out, it is recommended to wipe the pile with a weak vinegar solution. This procedure will freshen up the colors of the drawing. It is not advisable to knock out carpets with a soft base very strongly, as they can be damaged, which will lead to a decrease in the service life.

2. You can resort to the old proven method of cleaning. In winter, during severe frosts, the carpet should be taken out into fresh, clean snow. A layer of snow is poured onto the surface of the carpet, and after a while it is swept away with a broom. With such cleaning, all kinds of mites, insects that can live in the thickness of the carpet die.

3. Another way to clean the carpet: you should scatter fine salt, then sweep the carpet with a broom, periodically moistening it in warm water. Remove the remaining salt with a vacuum cleaner.

4. If grease stains have formed on the carpet, they should be removed by mixing gasoline with detergent. Such gruel must be rubbed into the stain, left overnight, and then washed off with warm water. You can also use sawdust or starch soaked in gasoline for this cleaning method. After the gruel is dry, vacuum everything up.

5. The carpet can be shine by rubbing it several times with a sponge soaked in ethyl alcohol or denatured alcohol.

6. If you are going on a business trip or vacation, cover the carpets with newspapers, on which you put bags of mothballs on top. This will keep them from moths. Then the carpet should be rolled up as tightly as possible into a roll, and then wrapped in thick paper. This will keep dust out of your carpet.

7. If coffee, wine or tea has been spilled on the carpet, do not rub the stain into the pile. It should be  put on top white terry towel, soaked in cold water, and carefully blot. Then try to collect the liquid with a tissue. To avoid smudges, sprinkle starch over the edges of the stain and start scrubbing the carpet from the edges of the stain to the middle. For this, it is recommended to use delicate foaming agents; dry the carpet in a natural way. After drying, it is advisable to straighten the pile in one direction.

8. If your carpet is new, use a soft brush to clean it. Many housewives get scared when they see carpet fluff remaining on the brush during cleaning. This is not to be feared. When making a carpet, the top layer of the pile goes through a "haircut" and "combing". Perhaps not all the trimmed hairs have spilled out on the new carpet. After a while, the villi will become smaller, and later they will stop spilling out altogether.

9. When the pile of the new carpet is settled, you can start vacuuming. Particularly zealous housewives try to vacuum the carpet almost every day. This absolutely should not be done. The carpet should be vacuumed no more than twice a week. It is recommended to start vacuuming from the inside of the carpet. The upper side should be vacuumed against the lint, pressing down firmly on the brush.

10. If the carpet is made of natural wool, it can be cleaned with foam. There are special carpet cleaners on sale that create dense, chemically non-aggressive foam. The product is applied evenly and removed after 10-15 minutes. The active substances collect dirt from the surface of the carpet or carpet.

11. Another popular way of cleaning is the "tea" method. Tea leaves from the used tea leaves are scattered over the surface of the carpet and then swept away. The colors are freshened up and light stains are removed.

12. Recently, many specialized carpet cleaning products have been on the market You should carefully read the instructions for them, as in the pursuit of "super-strong" cleaning, manufacturers often introduce strong chemicals into the products that can irreparably damage your carpet.

13. There are several ways to remove stubborn dirt from carpet. We take 2 st. spoons of washing powder and 1 hour. spoon of ammonia, mix everything in 5 liters of water. That's all the tool is ready. By the way, this tool will give a head start to imported cleaning products. Fresh wine, liquor and beer stains can be easily removed with vinegar. Dilute 1 hour. A spoonful of vinegar in a liter of warm water, then dip a brush (which has been pre-moistened with detergent) there and lightly rub the stain.

It is worth noting that now there are cleaning companies that provide professional deep cleaning services for carpets, which will help get rid of even stubborn and difficult to remove stains.

If you pay close attention to your carpet, it will serve you for many years.
